about

When I was a child, I lived in constant fear that the world would fall apart beneath my feet. I was worried that the soil would sink into the earth, and that all of the roots from the trees would tangle into a knot that no hands could loosen. I can't remember the day I overcame my fears, but I remember the day I met you.

How could I forget the way your body moved as you danced across your mother's kitchen floor? How could I forget the way your hand would tighten in mine as I would trip and slip over all of my words? How could I forget the look on your face when I told you that I was made of glass, and my heart was made only for breaking?

These days pass like the whistling children that cross the foggy morning street. These days remind me of your smile, fading into the winter and never returning again. I've crossed many rivers; I've crossed many roads, and with a compass in my hand and an atlas in my lap--I've learned one thing. You never overcome your fears; my world is breaking. - Crooked Antler

Track Name: Patience, Oregon
I'm going to be as patient as I need to be for you.
I'm going to follow you until your last step, and then

I'm going to fall down.

Yeah, I'm going to hit the ground.

And If someone catches my fall
Won't you be glad that I'm not alone?

And when you're finally on your feet
You're going to be right here behind me

You're going to fall down

Yeah, you're going to hit the ground
Track Name: We've Mended
I woke up early today
pulled in the chain, anchors aweigh
There's a bird perched on the bow
I try not to make a sound

Charts spread across the deck
Don't even know where I'm going yet
but as long as it's away from here
I'm going to make it through this year

Yeah, I'm going to be just fine
My sails are perfectly aligned

I've got all the time in the world
And you've found someone I am sure
And the waves can bring me a shake
But I'm never ever going to break

Yeah, I'm going to be just fine
My sails are perfectly aligned
Track Name: City of Lakes
The storm has passed
but I still feel so damn cold
and I know that we can't last
but won't you keep me warm?

Just hold my heart in your frozen hands
I don't care if you say that you can't

The smoke stacks will guide you home tonight
while I dream
of your face
wedding rings and clichés
to hold my bones

and if you hear my voice singing you to sleep
tell all the other boy's they'll have to go through me

and hold my heart in your frozen hands
I don't care if you say that you can't
Track Name: After Sunset
I look down at the snow-covered ground
And I feel warmth
because I am with you, love.
dusty boots and you blush
When I say your name

And I won't forget that you said "I love you"
And I could see right through your blue eyes

Eyes on the sunset
All our words go unsaid
My hands where they shouldn't be

and the moon lights the mountain -
seven years and counting
till I'm finally free

And I won't forget that you said "I love you"
And I could see right through your blue eyes
Track Name: Our Last Breath
My arms tied behind me
I gave you a gentle stare
Blood red stains on my hands
A strange scent in my hair

I wake up a dead man
At our funeral
As we lay side by side
with our story never told

For anyone else to hear
You held me close when you felt the end was near

Your tears stained my clothes
and now everyone will know
exactly who I am
and what I am here for

and you felt my breath
just before you left
and the last thing you heard was the last thing I said:

"Won't you please come back to me?
We can sleep all through the week."

And if I return, won't you promise me
That if I try to love you
that you won't let me

Because all I am is an old man
fallen to his knees
doing all that he can

for himself and no one else
I can't even take care of myself.
Track Name: Undiscovered Love
Headed toward the Eastern Sun,
pack up, lets go
going nowhere and no one will ever know

Take my hand, close your eyes and count to ten
I've got nothing.

And when we crash
The flags and the brass
couldn't hold me still
for long

keep your eyes on the road
Drive on and on
Headlights breaking through the fog

And if you're quiet I'm sure you could hear
My heart stop after all these years

And when we crash
the flags and the brass
couldn't hold me still for long

And if I survive
I'm going to try
my very best to hold you close to me
Track Name: I Will Be Missing
no lyrics
Track Name: Coast to Coast
I stand broken
cold eyes and my frozen stare
is fixed on your dark hair

so share me a whisper
a coffee and a smile
and I swear I'll drive you
through the next thousand miles

of Coast to Coast
I swear I'll love you most.
Coast to Coast
I swear I'll love you most.

If I could remember how I hid my temper
Could I once surrender
the embers to the fire?

Oh, Coast to coast
I swear I'll love you most
Coast to Coast
I swear I'll love you most.
Track Name: Forest Fire
Sometimes I forget the little words you whisper
soft into my ear
Like a forest fire my heart burns
all night

And rain drops
dance down the windows of your parents' car
and we draw in the fog
And your father will keep a steady hand
all night

Your camera rests upon your chest
the straps hang loose from your neck
You're holding tightly onto my hand
As me and your family drives down to

California

You rolled up your jeans; we're ankle deep in the ocean
And you can't help yourself
You splash me
You'll laugh at me all night

And bread crumbs fall down to the ground
and your brother chases birds into the crowd
He's silly
He'll keep us up all night

Your camera rests upon your chest
the straps hang loose from your neck
You're holding tightly onto my hand
As me and your family drives down to

California

You're holding tightly onto my hand
As me and your family drives down to

California is burning
and all the trees will fall
like the leaves on my front lawn

California is burning
and all the trees will fall
like the leaves on my front lawn
Track Name: Get Held
Lay down in the Autumn leaves
I swear I'll keep any secrets you care to tell me

Way down under the burning sun
We were drunk in love
Falling

And Time he is your friend
if anything, at least he's still around
And I am coming home
I won't let this ship run aground

'Cause I'll hold you tighter than a wedding ring
and I will sing your ears to sleep

Just give it time and I know you'll see
that old pine tree stands tall without me

And Time he is your friend
if anything, at least he's still around
And I am coming home
I won't let this ship run aground

'Cause I'll hold you tighter than a wedding ring
and I will sing your ears to sleep
Track Name: Your Awakening
I swear I could see your eyes look at me
standing at your bedside, just listening

for any words that may come out of your mouth
I wasn't hear before, but I am with you now

And I'm going to spend my days
Just listening for you may have to say

Your hand still feels so warm
Back inside these walls from where you were born

and I thought I could hear your voice in my ear
that beautiful voice
so soft and clear

And I'm going to spend my days
Just listening for you may have to say
And If you do awake
well I'm going to be yours, no matter what it takes
Track Name: Paper Ship
I shall return to you
sailing on a paper ship
built from all the letters that helped me through
the winter and the loneliness

I'm on my way back home

If you wait patiently
on the sun to shine
with the words that I have cast away from me
washed ashore by the tide

I'm on my way back home

With love like a lantern lighting my way home
